ABA Hosts Congressional Breakfast Celebrating Baking

Washington, D.C. - On Feb. 10, the American Bakers Association (ABA) hosted the Congressional Baking Caucus Breakfast Showcase on Capitol Hill, in partnership with Co-Chairs Representative John Joyce (R-PA) and Representative Don G.

Davis (D-NC). The event brought together congressional members and staff to celebrate the impact of America’s commercial baking industry.

“The baking industry provides affordable, nutritious foods that nourish families and communities across our nation,” said Davis. “The Congressional Baking Caucus is proud to advocate for an industry that not only feeds America but also strengthens our national economy.”

As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, the showcase highlighted baked goods as a central part of American life—from daily meals to special traditions—offering accessible and nutritious grain foods to communities nationwide.

“Our commercial bakers play a critical role in nourishing our communities,” Joyce said. “Baked goods bridge agricultural and food manufacturing sectors. Partnering with ABA allows the Congressional Baking Caucus to show how grain foods remain vital to nutrition, public health, and food security.”

The Caucus focuses on workforce development, regulatory reform, and supply chain efficiency, ensuring commercial baking manufacturers’ needs are represented in Congress.

“For 250 years, baked goods have brought families together at the table and supported communities across the country,” said Eric Dell, ABA president and CEO. “This breakfast showcase celebrates the pride, craftsmanship, and innovation of our industry while highlighting commercial baking’s role in public health, economic growth, and daily access to grain foods.”

The event underscores the baking sector’s importance in shaping food policy and supporting both economic and community well-being across the United States.
