Decatur, Illinois — ADM has officially opened its new Central Milling Laboratory at the ADM Specialty Manufacturing Facility in Decatur, Illinois, marking another advancement in its commitment to innovation and product quality.
The facility features state-of-the-art testing technologies and analytical tools designed to evaluate wheat and flour performance under real-world baking conditions.
Each day, the lab bakes around 30 loaves of bread to test how different flour varieties perform, ensuring ADM sources the highest-quality wheat for its customers.
Located near ADM’s North American Headquarters, the Decatur lab strengthens collaboration between ADM’s research and development teams and its creation and design facilities.
Currently, it supports 31 ADM milling and baking facilities across North America, helping improve consistency, innovation, and efficiency within the company’s operations.
“We are very excited because this new lab shows our commitment to growing our quality testing capabilities and it serves as a continued investment in the Decatur community,” said Tedd Kruse, president, Milling & Baking Solutions at ADM. “This facility strengthens our ability to collaborate with customers to meet evolving market needs, and it will accelerate innovation across our milling network. The lab is a great example of ADM’s mission of unlocking the power of nature to enrich the quality of life.”
With this new lab, ADM continues to enhance its role as a global leader in food innovation and grain processing — combining science, technology, and collaboration to create better baking solutions for the future.
