Earlier this month, Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de C.V. acquired Italian Home Bakery Ltd., a Canadian company. Italian Home Bakery Ltd. is a small family-owned bakery located in the Toronto, Ontario area. The company has been a member of the Toronto baking community since 1995 and specializes in fresh and frozen finely crafted European style breads.
Although a smaller business, Italian Home Bakery has one production plant, the acquisition strengthens Grupo Bimbo’s presence in Canada and the United States.
The company’s 70,000 square foot facility is HACCP approved, ISO 22000 certified and has blast freezing capability. Italian Home Bakery Ltd. delivers its fresh products 7 days a week throughout the Greater Toronto Area, as well as ships its frozen baked goods to retailers and food service establishments throughout Canada.
Italian Home Bakery’s portfolio includes Calabrese, ciabatta and spacatto (split) products, along with Heart & Health selections, including whole grain options.
The acquisition of Italian Home Bakery Ltd. by Grupo Bimbo is the company’s third in Canada in the past 14 months.
