Considered to be the largest organic bread company in the United States, Dave’s Killer Bread is expected to be acquired by Flowers Foods later this year for $275 million. Dave’s Killer Bread produces 17 varieties of whole grain and organic products which contain no artificial ingredients, are certified USDA organic, and Non-GMO Project verified.

“We are very excited about the pending acquisition of Dave’s Killer Bread,” said Allen L. Shiver, President and CEO of Flowers Foods. “This is a well-positioned, fast growing company with excellent brand equity and an on-trend organic portfolio that appeals to today’s consumers.”

Nature Bake was founded in 1955 by the Dahl family, which later changed the name to Dave’s Killer Bread after the bread was a success at the Portland Farmer’s Market in 2005. The company employs approximately 300 out of its sole location in Milwaukie, Oregon. After the transaction is complete, it is expected that Dave’s Killer Bread will be run as an independent subsidiary of Flowers Foods.

Along with acquiring a new brand, product, and customers, the addition to Dave’s Killer Bread to Flowers’ portfolio allows the company to reach into new geographic areas, including the Pacific Northwest and Canada.
