Earlier this month, Chicago based East Balt Bakeries announced it has acquired two bakeries, located in Pretoria and Cape Town, South Africa.
The acquisition solidifies East Balt’s presence in South Africa, but also allows for further expansion into the surrounding markets. Currently, East Balt operates in four continents, with twenty-three bakeries in twelve different countries.
The two South African bakeries, which were previously in partnership with SA Food Staples Proprietary Ltd, will allow East Balt Bakeries to service global quickserve restaurants and local retail customers. CEO Mark Bendix says East Balt will continue to acquire facilities in order to meet their growing, global demand.
