World Cup of Baking 2016 Teams Announced

Taking part during Europain & Intersuc in France, The World Cup of Baking 2016 (Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie 2016), brings together 12 international teams to compete in three different categories. Every four years, teams from around the world gather to showcase their skills in the following categories: baguette & bread of the world, viennoiserie & savory baking, and artistic bakery creation.

 

Teams can make it to the World Cup of Baking by placing in the top three in the last World Cup of Baking, or being selected during the Louis Lesaffre Cup. Japan, USA and Taiwan are winners from the 2012 competition and have an automatic entry into the competition.

This year, some changes have been made to the competition:

Team Viennoiserie Test
All three contestants must participate together in a savory baking test and create 15 mini burgers, 15 free-style savory small rolls, 15 savory club sandwiches and 15 savory viennoiseries, which will be integrated into the artistic bakery creation competition.

Improvisation Test
Contestants will be challenged with the improvisation test where they will be presented with a group of items they need to use in their creations in the baguette & bread of the world and the viennoiserie categories.

Artistic Creation
Using both artistic and technical talents, each team must prepare an artistic creation under this year’s theme: Sport representative of your country
