2016 Bakery World Cup Winners Announced at Europain & Intersuc

From February 5th to February 9th, baking professionals from around the world joined together in France for Europain & Intersuc 2016. During the five day event, attendees shared business-boosting ideas and predictions about consumer needs all in the name of saying on top of trends. 

 


Show highlights include:

  • 679 Exhibitors and brands
  • 63,000+ visitors from 137 countries
  • 3 contests
  • 140 workshops and conferences

The World Cup of Baking (Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie)

Twelve teams, made up of three contestants each, competed in three categories: Baguettes & Bread of the World, Viennoiserie, and Savory Pastry.

The winners:

1st place winner: South Korea
2nd place winner: Taiwan
3rd place winner: France

This year marks the first year that South Korea landed a place on the podium in the history of the contest. While second place winner, Taiwan, moved up from its third place win last year. Third place winner and 2008's World Bakery Champion, France, managed to make a podium finish.   

Countries including Italy, Malaysia, Japan, Switzerland, France and Singapore also won bragging rights in the International Confectionery Art (Mondial des Arts Sucres) Competition.
